For more than 100 years conventional scientific wisdom held that root absorption of nitrogen was restricted to inorganic forms of nitrogen such as NO3, NO2, and NH4. But to their surprise, the scientists saw the illuminated dots attached to amino acids entering the mycorrhizal hyphae for plant uptake.
